Post subject:  Master Chef

I saw the second half of last nights show. This is the firs time I have ever seen this show and I thought it was interesting that they had to recreate a dish. I am not a fan of Gordon Ramsay, but I might be inclined to watch this show again. Has anybody else been watching this show?

I watch occasionally but I'm not a huge fan. I find Bastianich way too prickly. He bothers me more than GR.

I watched the first ten minutes...then turned the TV off and tickled children instead...not impressed.

Don't care at all for Ramsey's potty mouth and won't watch any program he's involved in.

I love the Australian and British versions of Master Chef. They are less dramatic than the American one and the contestants tend to be more supportive of each other. Gordon Ramsey is also MUCH more obnoxious on US t.v.

I have been watching it and find it ok. I have the luxury of being able to record 4 tv shows at once, so I watch it the next day usually and play with my Living cookbook while I watch.

I like Graham Elliot. They always have 2 challenges, one is usually a basket of ingredients with one to be featured. The second involves a famous dish which in most cases they have to reinvent, modernize, etc. The dishes are varied as are the ingredients. They make the contestants who are home cooks not chefs do the cooking in a variety of settings from running a famous restaurant to feeding cowboys. It is a combo of Iron Chef and Top Chef with self trained cooks. I don't like Gordon Ramsey's tv personna, enjoy the creativity of the contestants. The 3 chefs always discuss what they would do and how and what the pitfalls of a particular dish might be. I really enjoy that part and have had a couple of Aha moments.

Interestingly for me, this season I like it better than Top Chef Masters which I am finding somewhat boring predictable with most of the chefs not particularly likeable.

I've not seen any of the Master Chefs but spot on about Ramsay on US shows. Loved his Kitchen Disasters on BBC, the US one was so different and not in a good way.
