I just saw this movie tonight and I really liked it! Merryl Streep did an excellent job as always.

It is not here yet but I would pay to watch Meryl Streep read the telephone book.

I checked our local theatre this weekend and not here, hopefully soon. I'm looking forward to seeing it too. I heard it was over 2 hours long.

Finally saw the movie and of course loved it....my only regret is that, now no one will make a movie of "My Life In France". While the juxtaposition of the two stories was a fun treatment, I would have just loved Julia's story. My turn to host my Gourmett Dinner Group next Sat and the theme is this movie. All of the recipes are from "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and the women will be dressing like Julia (the guys will wear aprons) and I am making the cooking school emblems for everyone to pin on their shirts. Should be fun (although this group is always fun). ilene

ilene, that sounds like so much fun. I wish I could get a group like that together.

My old bridge group who all have the original MTAOFC and who've shared many dinners and recipes over the years had planned to to see J&J en masse but of course trying to get 7 women to do anything at the same time on the same day is like launching WWII so we are now scheduled to go Wednesday at 11:00 am and then to cook dinner together. All recipes from Julia's book. Lord only knows when / how the menu will be determined!
Point of interest: I'm the baby and I'm approaching 70. I hope we can all remember which theater, which day and which time!

Todd, All,
Reviewers have said that Streep is great, but that the "Julie" half of the movie is emininently missable. I was planning to wait for DVD so I could skip Julie and just watch Streep. Any reason not to?

Fuzz Streep is terrific and the Julie part wasn't necessary, but it is well done and so I would suggest you see it in its entirety on the big screen. I regret that they merged the two stories because I would have loved to have seen, "My Life in France" as a stand alone movie. That said, I enjoyed the movie and appreciated what Julia's influence did to make Julie's life meaningful. As I watched it, I could only wonder why I hadn't thought of doing it. ilene
