I very very rarely deep fry. So the frozen spf and regular are good for when the boys want fries and don't want oven fries or I don't have time to peel, chop, soak in hot water, bake. Plus teenage boys eat way more than I want to peel even when I have time.
Actually my normal way of getting fries is to call our local diner and place an order when I'm making burgers. It's 3 minutes away, they use fresh potatoes and I just time the burgers to be ready when the fries are ready to be picked up.
edit to add - and if I happen to also order onion rings at the same time....well, it's just making the trip down the street more cost effective.
