I agree with you, Fuzzy. Plus I would have to add on the time to go to the store to buy bottled water as we never buy it. fitzie

I've not tried it, but I would guess any squeezable bottle with a small opening would work, as long as it was clean (the opening and neck since the yolk never reaches the bottom). I assume it is just the suction that cleanly pulls the yolk from the white, the bottle opening gives you a place to hold the yoke for a few seconds until you can put it elsewhere.
Next time I need a bunch of eggs and don't care if they are mixed, I am going to try it putting the next egg in the clean whites and see if that works. It is does not, I've not lost anything but a bit of time. Yes, I know you should always put each egg in its own dish in case it is bad, but I don't usually unless the egg is suspect in some way.
If it does work, then it would be easier and I would not have to get eggs on my hands. I would just keep one small bottle for this purpose and clean it with an appropriate brush. I'd store that bottle with the whip attachment.

I can see the appeal of not having to use one's hands, not because I mind touching the eggs, but because then it's just one more time I have to wash my hands while I'm cooking. My hands already take a beating because I'm washing them so much.
