How well does that screen work for actual frying? Regular screens kinda suck, but everytime I look at that one, I figure it will keep in too much moisture and actually steam my food (or drip water back into it). Does it seem to impede frying (they pan frying sort)?

and I was just thinking about reviving this thread too.
Tip: in general, you do not want to toss hit pasta with cheese in the pasta pot; it will get too hot and separate. Instead, toss it in a large ceramic or plastic bowl.
Tip: need a funnel to fill pepper mill and spice jars? buy a dollar-store thin plastic funnel and cut off the bottom with a box knife.

I use this one all the time and love it. It really keeps splatter down, but food comes out crispy. I got my mom a smaller one so now I have an 11" and a 13", use the latter the most as I fry most in the 12" pans. Easy to clean as well.

Sorry for the late response, Paul, the screen does not impede frying in any way - for me.

My problem with spatter screens is that they only seem to come in one size -- 13". Which is really irritating when you're trying to fit a frying pan with a spatter screen on the 24" stove with 3 other pots. Anybody know where I can get a 6" spatter screen? I've tried looking at restaurant supply stores, but the old expanded aluminum spatter screens which used to be available in 4 sizes are long gone.

I recently replaced my kitchen faucet. I remove sinks when I am playing with faucets. That lead to a related task of removing the food disposal and replacing the rubber baffle. The underside of the rubber baffle and its vicinity is probably the dirtiest and smelliest place in my kitchen. A trip to Home Depot lead me to Zep Foaming Garbage Disposal Cleaner and a stop at the dollar store resulted in a big round toilet brush that fits inside the disposal to scrub it while the foam is in there working. It is probably still the dirtiest and smelliest place in my kitchen, but I feel better because I have done all I can. I will smell what happens next time I start my dishwasher.
