Here is a list of ingredients that you have available. These are the only ingredients you can use, but you do not have to use all of them. What appetizer would you make?

Balsamic Vinegar
Sugar Free Strawberry Jam
Orange Marmalade
Salt and Pepper
Onion
Green Pepper
Brie
Puff Pastry Shells
Apples
Butter

I would put the Brie in the shells, bake and serve with a chutney of apple, onion, green pepper and a bit of orange marmalade. I would also try to sneak a bit of curry spices into the chutney. are you on a reality show?

I had to make an appetizer for NYE and this is what I had available at the last minute.

I would have mixed the balsamic and the strawberry jam, let it sit for a little while, and served that with the Brie in the shells

That's what I did.

For a garnish, I sliced one of the apples about 1/8" thick and arranged four slices on each plate.

In culinary school you would have been told you HAVE to use all of the ingredients. What a PITA that can be.

Have you ever seen grown-ups fighting over who must use the sorrel?

My take:

Slice the apples and onions thin. Layer them with the butter in the pastry shells. Top with slices of brie. Broil.
