I often make m/w scrambled eggs. Today I decided to add some diced red onions to the dish. When I put the onions into my buttered m/w skillet and microwaved them they sparked and flared up! What's up with that? Are there other foods that react that way? |

Too much power, not enough food. Put a glass of water in there to absorb the extra energy or lower the level you are cooking at. The glass of water will work better if your microwave is not the inverter type. |

If you want to see sparks cut a grape almost in half so there's just a little bit of grape skin between the two halves. Lay it in the microwave with the cut side up. |
