All, Because of the number of recipes I make which require, say, a cup of stock, I'm always looking for dehydrated stock/broth bases. Currently I use the little Trader Joe's 1-cup concentrate packets, but I'm aware that those are mostly MSG yeast extract (they are effective, though). The Penzey's Soup Bases are attractive because they use natural ingredients, and are relatively low-salt. However, the last time I bought the Vegetable Soup Base, I found that it wouldn't dissolve in water, even boiling hot water beaten with a whisk. Anyone use these? Are they working for you? Am I doing something wrong? Do other people have other "instant" stock/broths that they use, and if so, what? |

Sometimes I use Morga cubes. Otherwise, I just keep a box of broth in the fridge. I might look into the TJ's, though. |
