Overabundance, too many, more than a bunch... They are from my tree. I already made several batches of limoncello, just made lemon curd, squoze  three cups of juice to freeze, gave some away and still have half a shopping bag full. Any ideas? They are really wonderful and I'd rather not waste them.nancy |

A few years ago I made preserved lemons with them. I think I got the recipe from Smitten Kitchen. They take about 2 weeks to preserve and hold well. I'll look and see if I can find the recipe for you, if you're interested. Nance (the "other" Nancy  )

Nancy, Three ideas: First as Original Nancy said, meyers make superior preserved lemons. Second, last night Kris made Meyer-lemon mousse chocolate wafer cupcakes. The way these work is: make lemon mousse, then in muffin cups make little stacks of 8-10 Famous Wafers glued together with generous layers of mousse. Leave to sit in the fridge for 6-24 hours. Amazingly good. Third: mail them to me. I'm out. |

Just to feel your pain, I put on my snowsuit, shoveled out the driveway, put the vehicle in four-wheel drive, climbed over some snow drifts, parked in the snowed in parking lot at Safeway, trudged through the drifts, unbuttoned said snowsuit in the store, bought 20 pounds of any damn type of lemon that was lazing about, retreated to my homestead in the reverse of the above, laid down on the carpet and poured lemons over my shivering body. You're right, after awhile, I, too, ran out of ideas about what to do with them. However, at least I was there for you! P.S. It's -30C with the wind chill. Hugs & kisses from the Great White North

I can't even find Meyer Lemons within a 30 mile radius here! To add to the excellent ideas above, I also suggest making candied lemon peel. wino wrote: P.S. It's -30C with the wind chill. This cold winter makes me remember why I found it difficult to be a vegetarian in Minnesota - I am craving some hot meat right now (wait, that didn't sound right).

You guys are too silly Today it's 50F. Maybe 45F with wind chill? Brrrrrr. Yesterday it was much nicer, 60F and sunny. But before that it got down to ... gasp ... 40F! I had to wear a heavy sweater! And fuzzy socks! |

Hugs & kisses from the Great White North I feel your pain. I went to college in the snow belt of New York. Several years later and after one too many black ice incidents I moved to No. Cal. Thanks for the idea, Darcie. I began preparing some orange rind and thought I would do some lemon rind tomorrow. Fuzzy, I went to the Ferry building yesterday and the weather was beautiful! Ate some mussels and some of someone else's Prather's hotdog, went to Miette (of course I did) and downed a chocolate cupcake. Bought chocolate at Recchiuti and passed on the bread and cheese because it was a zoo. |
