I am hosting a baby shower soon and was thinking about serving 2 or 3 different kinds of tarts, salads and fruit. I was thinking about Dorie Greenspan's (Around My French Table) recipes for either Gerard's Mustard Tart or Quiche Maraichere. Has anyone made either of these? They both have very similar ingredients (leeks, carrots, red peppers), so I'd like to mix it up a bit. Any suggestions for complimentary (maye with green veggies) quiche/tart? The new mom is a vegetarian, so I'd like her to be able to eat everything. Thanks for any help...

Pete made a really good asparagus quiche recently. I think it was a CI recipe. Very easy.

The quiche I made was ham & apsaragus, but there are other variations on Ci (the other one I remember was ham & cheese but surely there was a recipe without ham...).

Thanks...I'm going to add one of these, probably the asparagus. I haven't done one from CI yet, but I assume they are reliable. I also just found one with puff pastry and grilled veggies and goat cheese that sounds great. I'm thinking 3 different tarts/quiche and salad and fruit for about 12 people...does that sound about right?

I like the idea of the puff pastry, it gives a little extra structure and it's just so darn good. Like Ilene, I love gruyere in my egg dishes. The combination of asparagus, eggs and gruyere sounds wonderful.
I think your menu sounds perfect!
