Ahhhhh, creamed chipped beef on toast!!! That's what I was served while in juvenile detention in southern Calif. after being picked up for drinking on the beach at the ripe ol' age of 16!!! Seems like only decades ago... :o

Oh yeah, and I've never had it since :!: :lol: :roll:

I am looking forward to trying my Hamburger Gravy with sour cream added. I can almost taste it now. In the market, fresh mushrooms show up often, usually Oyster Mushrooms, which make a very tasty addition.

SOS varies by service with the Army serving hamburger gravy as SOS and the Navy serving creamed chipped beef as SOS. This was a point of discussion between veterans on another board until it became obvious that the same name was being applied to slightly different ingredients.
