Have you seen this recipe from Lucky Peach?
All the ingredients seem pretty ordinary, do you think the addition of saffron would really raise it over the top?

It would be difficult for me to think of a recipe in which saffron wouldn't raise it up over the top...

Linda,
I'd try it. But based on experience, I'd parcook the potato slices in the nuke, and reduce cooking time to 1 hour. I've found that raw potato often never cooks through in the center of a scallop.

I've been using the same box of saffron (stored in the freezer) for 15 years now. Pinch a little and sniff it. If it has scent, it has flavor.
