Anyone have a favorite crockpot recipe to share? I've been giving mine a workout lately with some roaring successes and some just ok stuff.
Good sources? Webs, blogs, books, etc?
Tips or tricks?

Do you have the ATK Family Cookbook? Chicken with wine and mushrooms are a fav. here, and do you have "The Gourment Slow Cooker? Tarragon Chicken, Pork with Prunes (OMG!), Moussaka, and Apricot Chicken.
Need recipes? Let me know?

Oh, over on the shortribs thread, is the CC recipe for shortribs, with balsamic, and Laurie posted Alina's recipe for them as well.
I was going to try Alina's , but didn't have pancetta.

There is a great book, "Not your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook" by Hensperger....lots of good recipes

One of my favorites is a stew of sweet potato, onion and pork cubes with dried pineapple bits, cooked in coconut milk. I rarely even brown the pork. I haven't yet figured out how to not have the potato end up just too soft, but it tastes great mushed.
I don't think I've followed many recipes with my slow cooker and I've liked the results.
I just try to remember to add less liquid than I think I need, because everything stays so moist.

I might use that chicken and mushroom recipe in the ATK for some Sunday evening guests.

I just can't warm up to crock pot cooking - not sure why. I don't know if it's the process or the results, but it doesn't thrill me. I wish it did.

1) Clearly, you aren't lazy enough. I love starting food at the beginning of the day, and just sitting down and eating at the end of it. I (stupidly) did a "Clean Sweep" of the basement this summer, which involved taking 25 years of crap out and putting in and under three tents and four gazebos and then trying to sort and re container it. The neighbors thought it was either Modern Hillbilly, or Early Homeless landscaping. In my defense, there wasn't an old couch on the porch or a '72 rusting chevy up on blocks.......It rained so much this summer, I didn't really get to BBQ a lot, which is my favorite, so Slow Cooker to the rescue. I was so tired at the end of the day. Mine has a temp probe, so when it gets to temp, it goes to warm
2) Recipes make a big difference. I did learn this from the OB. I got the Gourmet Slow Cooker and was directed to ATKFC. DH used to call stuff in the slow cooker "muck in a pot." Many of the recipes out there are open and dump, but the ones I've been making lately are really, really good.
