Yah, that is one of my few irritations with my super-automatic (which I love on the whole). They really should have made the grinder reasonably serviceable. My current inclination is to run rice through it, and then make about 10 coffees (sans beans, of course, or some crap beans).

Run RICE through it?
Why?
One of the things I'm DROOLING over the idea of OVERHAULING this baby!!

If you're going to run something through it, I like the idea of dry, "crap" beans though.

Rice is much, much harder then beans and works pretty well for regular grinders. My main concern with the super automatic is the path following the rice needs to be thoroughly cleaned and is not very accessible (to say the least). On mine the grinder isn't very serviceable, unlike my rocky where you can take it apart and thoroughly clean it fairly easily.
