I'm looking for a Pumpkin Scone recipe...I really like CI Blueberry Scone recipe and wish they offered a pumpkin version. Thanks!

Slight hijack. I'm making the blueberry scones in the morning with a couple of friends who requested that we do them together. I prepped all the ingredients but have no lemons. :o

Think orange zest would be okay or should I go buy a lemon in the am? I'm making 2 batches, and have raspberries, so maybe one orange/raspberry and the other lemon/blueberry?

thanks!

I wound up buying lemons, but would love opinions on other zest/fruit combos.

Lu, did you ever try a pumpkin version? Results?

I've made a pumpkin bran muffin from joyofbaking a few times, we really liked them.
I found this recipe I want to try, I like this blog a lot actually. Oddly enough it's from the only other non-contiguous state. ;-)

Scones can be tricky. I have made them several times and I have run the gamet of success. Some have turned out great and some have been thrown away. I think especially with Scones, if you have a good recipe you should make as few changes as possible. I have made the blueberry recipe with strawberries and they came out very good but a little wetter, so if ever again I try it, I will probably cook them a little longer. I personally like the scones but a short time later I tried an Cran/apple cake/pie inspired by Sarah Chase and my wife said she liked it many times better, go figure, it was good but I didn't think it was better than the scones, maybe it was the Whipped Cream. I must say the Cran/apple was a lot easier to make, anyone wants the recipe let me know and I can email you a word document or some other method to you.

Now you have done it, I have to make said apple/Cran cake.

Keep them happy, cook great stuff,
Barry

I know the scone question already came and went (BTW, the KAF Harvest Pumpkin Scones recipe is one of my favorites -- they're definitely most moist than the average scone). But I figured I'd just chime in that FWIW, I keep lemon oil in the fridge and use it whenever I don't have lemons for zest. Works like a charm!
