In the spirit of Mark Bittman’s Summer Express 101, what is your favorite “no recipe” recipe?

One of mine is shredded cabbage sautéed with deeply caramelized yellow onions seasoned to taste. Burying some kielbasa links or pieces to warm at the end is permissible.

Clean out the refrigerator pasta -- boil pasta, sauté some garlic in olive oil, turn heat way down and throw in any leftovers from the refrig. that looks good (including herbs), toss with pasta.

Pasta with olive oil, grated cheese, and whatever veg is in fridge. Asparagus is a good find.

My father's spaghetti sauce which is 2 dicedgreen peppers and a diced white onion sweated in olive oil then 3 cans of tomato paste and 9 cans of water and two sticks of pepperoni (sliced, but not thinly) and cooked on low for 3 hours....family calls it liquid pepperoni.

Spaghetti pie, whatever is around mixed with leftover pasta and egg and then fried in a pan. I also like a tortilla with a hot dog and cheddar cheese, nuke it then serve with salsa and Dijon mustard. If I could get pepperoni I would be all over Ilene's sauce.

For dinner last night - pan fried breaded fish. I use flour/breadcrumbs/seasonings as I have them. Never fails. Then again, anything panfried is tasty. ;)
