We can't go near one of those places with buying a Pina Collada, which was the case today, the Dairy Queen now does Orange Julius, which is a great idea. Barbara suggested we find a way of making them and now that I have the nice Ninja that will do ice, it is a pretty good idea.
I have some idea what it would take but would love if someone actually had the recipe.
Thanks, Barry

Here is one that is supposed to be very close....I haven't tried it, but it got great reviews. Ilene
Ingredients •1 can (6 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed •1 cup milk •1 cup water •1/4 cup sugar •1 teaspoon vanilla extract •10 to 12 ice cubes
Directions •In a blender, combine the orange juice, milk, water, sugar and vanilla. Cover and blend until smooth. With blender running, add ice cubes, one at a time, through the opening in lid. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately. Yield: 4-5 servings.

That could be the recipe for a regular Orange Julius, but what I am looking for is the Pina Colada, which would have cocoanut milk and pinapple juice, I think, along with probable some of the other things in your recipe.

Sorry...I posted that too quickly. Here is one they say closely resembles the OJ Pina Colada....I think if you added some coconut milk instead of cow's milk, you might be close.
Ingredients 1 cup ice 1 1/4 cups pineapple juice 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup heavy cream 2 tablespoons white sugar
Directions 1. In an electric blender, blend ice, pineapple juice, milk, cream, and sugar. Blend until smooth

I am struggling to remember your name is it Ilene?
In any event thanks for the recipe, that looks more like it and I think your right about the cocoanut milk, which I do have but no pinapple juice at the moment. I am going to see if I can caught Barbara at the store.
Thanks, Barry

Here's one to check out with great reviews: Non-Alcoholic Pina Colada: * 2 ounces unsweetened pineapple juice * 1 ounce cream of coconut * ½ cup ice Directions: Blend in blender until desired consistency is achieved. http://www.food.com/recipe/non-alcoholi ... lada-82524

Thanks for the post. I am not sure I know what cream of coconut is, I do have coconut milk but this sounds like something totally different. It also much be very concentrated. However it does sound like the right stuff.
Thanks, Barry

Thanks, Barry Yes, cream of coconut is much more concentrated than coconut milk. Here's a popular brand - it can be found in most supermarkets: http://www.cocolopez.com/cream.htmlHere's some info on coconut milk vs. coconut cream: http://www.thekitchn.com/whats-the-diff ... ut-m-75446

Most grocery stores keep it by the booze (cream of coconut, that is).
