Does anyone have a sturdy homemade cracker recipe to share? I have this idea of making appetizer spoons from homemade crackers. I have some metal Asian soup spoons to use as a form, but I need a recipe that will hold up to transferring to the form after rolling out, plus holding up on the appetizer platter. I am not sure what I will put on the spoons yet, but it won't be too heavy or too wet, just in case.
Thanks,
--Lisa

Lisa, That's actually a very clever idea. Are you looking to market this or just make some for fun? You could expand on this and use Grated Parm and make cheese spoons. I don't have a cracker recipe for you.

Sounds industrious! Could you make them out of puff pastry? I've made cheese straws out of puff pastry and they are yummy. It's a CI recipe.

Baking With Julia has a recipe for oat crackers that might fit the bill.

Just for fun. I've seen them on various sites but they are made out of smashed white bread slices, and I think I can do better than that. I thought about puff pastry but would it be sturdy enough to pick something up with it? I'll check for the Julia recipe. I have several of her cookbooks but not that one. Maybe it is in one of the others. Thanks! Now, the big question is what to put on the spoons?! --Lisa

I have a magazine at home that has one you roll out with a pasta machine. It's from Canadian living but I didn't see it online - will look at home and pm you.

For yucks, I searched the eResources under culinary online via my local library for "homemade crackers" and this popped up. Amazon would have worked too I guess. Can't get the screenshot to post so here's the amazon link. Sorry, haven't tried anything from this book. Crackers & Dips

none of them appear to be online - can you pm me your email and I'll send you the scanned pages? I found several in different Christmas issues from Canadian Living - one of my trusted resources. If anyone else wants them just pm me your email. cheers
