Well, in my recent "balikbayan" box from the USA, two completely unexpected items showed up. Yeah, it was full of wood chips to smoke with and some of those odd chemicals for curing meat. But in there was a meat grinder and a meat slicer. Not high end stuff, but when you have none, any is welcome. And the grinder is, for the price, really doing a fine job. The slicer has no problem whipping through our bacon, which is its primary task.

For home use, I have zero complaints about the grinder. I even, at this point (2 uses), recommend it. Freeze your fat and almost freeze your meat, and it will do the job, no problemo! 3000 watt reportedly. Works with my 2000 watt step down transformer without any noticeable problems. Ground beef is here, homemade sausage and even homemade hotdogs are on the horizon.

The slicer (200 watt) goes through bacon without batting an eyelash (if it had eyelashes, anyway) but harder stuff might give it a problem. My only complaint is the travel length of the meat tray. I have to cut my bacon in half to slice. But it sure does knock out slices, thick or thin, without hesitation.

One of these and a Weber kettle, nobody and I mean nobody should be buying store bought bacon. Or at least try it. Bacon is so easy to make and is great without smoking. When you actually smoke it, man oh man. No going back, no way, not ever. Well, unless I end up in an old folks home or even worse, a condo with COA/HOA prohibition!

Congrats on your new appliances. We'll be looking forward to seeing some pics of your sausages and hot dogs.

I have the same slicer and it does ok on small diameter harder stuff like hard salami, etc. I concur with the travel length issue.
