Not sure except perhaps the cheaper version is Chinese plastic instead of Chinese metal? :lol: Actually they are made in South Africa..

All current models are different from the older metal model that I have. I have the old style classic http://sharpeningmadeeasy.com/Warthog.htm I REALLY like this sharpener! I have used many different ones, this one outperforms all that I have tried.
