As long as your six quart mixer was built after 2004, repair is possible and the procedure has approximately the same degree of difficulty as poking around inside a computer- only with grease.
The Mending Shed has a .PDF service manual for download and will sell you parts at reasonable price.
As long as the motor still runs, you can usually bring a six quart back to life with less than $100 worth of parts and tools. Experienced hands can rebuild it less than an hour. A complete novice should be able to do it in three.
I have some pictures of the repair procedure and their are several
videos on You Tube.. I have not watched the complete video, but I will and comment on it if I think the procedure will result in a working mixer.
If I had to guess at the parts needed to fix yours, they would be the gear cover, worm gear, worm gear bearings, thrust washer, worm follower gear, and some grease. If it was a truly inspired train wreck, the center shaft could be bent and require a new plantetary. Good Luck and have fun.
