More thoughts on this thread:
1) I already have the slicer and grater attachments for my Kitchenaid, which I shouldn't remind my husband about. They really don't work on softer foods well. I wonder what the options are in this area.
2) I am making vegetable soup tonight and wondering if that dicing attachment really would work on sweet potato or not. Or just soft fruits/veggies.
3) Will the 14c really mix stiff bread dough or am I going to burn another FP out? Because I *do* have the those slicing attachments...
I tend to use my mandolin for julienne work, my f/p for shredding or slicing and my K/A mixer for dough. The mandolin isn't my go to for really firm stuff like sweet pots though, I'm a bit freaked out at the blades even with a cut resistant glove, so I use the f/p for those. It works wonderfully on regular potatoes, apples, zucchini, etc.
The new 11 cup I'm looking at doesn't use the same blades that I own (big drag) but the slicing blade is adjustable, so I won't need to store a box of disks (which is a big plus). I lose the julienne function (unless I can buy a new blade that does this) but honestly I think the mandolin covers the few times I need to do matchstick apples or french fries.
I can pretty much say I'd not make any dough in the f/p. I used to make pizza dough in there but switched to the Lahey dough which I much prefer.
I'm tuning out that there are grater and slicer attachments for the KA.
