Ah, considering I use my FP at most once a month (OK, occasionally twice), $7.60 put me right off of that. Especially since usually I had another option. Makes me re-think my cusinart, which I like (and is very solid) and its residual value is such that it probably isn't a lot different in total cost from the Robo Coupe. OTOH, I use my VitaMix a lot more. So, Jim may have actually deterred me! But good cost analysis is always good. We bought a new(-ish) car recently and factoring in residual value and on-going costs (i.e. fuel especially) made a pretty big difference in the 'real' cost of the vehicle.
Mind you, considering how my RRSP (I think that is 401K to you folks) have been doing, his TVM adjustment might well be in the wrong direction. I'll save money in the future by spending it on kitchen appliances now instead of investing it.... better return!

That one appears to be similar to the one that had the 3 bowls. That one got mixed reviews, but enough negative that I stayed away. I often use both my little one (sits right by the stove) and big one at the same time, and don't like the idea of having them together, but that is just me. I also found that the blades from the old ones did not fit the new design. Won't matter if you don't have any old ones, but I have french fry cutter, a couple of shredding discs and several slicers as well as a whip attachment. I could give up all except the french fry one, my kids would kill me it it one of the things they always ask for when they come home.

Anyone have any experience/knowledge of the Magimix 32000xl? It's the home version of the Robot Coupe. I'm intrigued.

Thanks for the link Darcie. I think I'm going to go with the Magimix. Now it's a question of size. I've only ever had a 12-cup food processor and felt it was an adequate size, except when I make things like gazpacho. Is there a strong argument for going with a 14-cup model?
FWIW, the 12-cup is 650 watts (HP not stated) and the 14-cup is 950 watts, 1.5 hp.

If you have the storage space, I would get the larger size; all of the usual reasons apply.

I just bought this unit with a nod of confidence about the seller from Josh (they're SF based), and a guarantee it's a new unit under full warranty and can be returned if I'm not satisfied from the seller. Me happy. Amy

Amy looks like a great machine. FWIW, I've always had a 14 cup as did my mom and now my daughter. I've never regretted it, or wish it was smaller. I"ve done double two crust pies, large bread loaves and is great for large batches or homemade sauerkraut or slaw. Normally, I use it to for just the 2 of us. I've wished my little one (old 3 cup Cuisinart) was slightly bigger, but it is still going strong so no reason to get the 4 cups model.

Memories -- We had a Cuisinart DLC-7 Pro that my wife got back in 1980, '81-ish. She got 9 extra cutting discs with it too. Awesome power. A bit fussy to use, everything had to be just right or it wouldn't start. That's the reason my wife chucked the DLC-7 in the TRASH and bought a new Cuisinart 11. The DLC-7 looked boxy and over simplified, but man, what a workhorse. FYI, here's one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CUISINART-DLC-7 ... 4604da9af8
