KP - so i will assume you like it, that the cut edge is not roughly burred enough to shred thin spatulas, etc???

OXO Good Grips Magnetic Locking Can Opener 1057941
I love the magnetic lid, and it is easy to use, and seems sturdy. However, my left handed daughter can not use it.

The oxo I use looks remarkably like the swing-away. Cannot address the burr issue, I guess I need to examine my scraping method more closely!

Ok, now I'm looking for a new can opener for my daughter since her "whatever" broke down.
I have 2 older Swing-A-Way that work great---mine are the regular models, they also made a 'heavy duty' I wish I'd bought b/c can't find it anywhere now. From info I found (if correct) the company sold out to China few yrs back. However, I did an EZ-DUZ-IT made by John J. Steuby Co.---has anyone used this opener? Comments please. Before the China sell out, Steuby Co. made parts for the Swing-A-Way.... now Steuby makes the EZ-DUZ-IT and I wonder if it's as good if not better.
WINO.... what opener did you end up getting?

Through Amazon.ca I bought a Zyliss with magnet that sold for less than the same on the Yankee-doodle site - a rare occurrence. HOWEVER, despite wonderful reviews - I dislike like it, can't recommend it. It's slow - it takes 11 turns to open a tune fish can. It does not hold the lid as you complete the circle, you must dip the head onto the lid to pull it out of the can! WTF! Of course, no sooner did I get this then I found a Swing-Away in my local hardware store - the one place I hadn't checked locally. It's too much bother to return so it goes into the salvation Army bin.
