I had two thoughts - if nothing else works, before you throw it away, leave it in your oven during a self-cleaning cycle.

And you might gift your friend a package of parchment paper liners - sounds like she could could probably use some help with her other pans.

So it took me 5 stores to find Dawn PowerDissolver (had to be the first time I've ever shrieked with delight--albeit softly--in WalMart), but was it ever worth the hunt. Where has this stuff been all my life? I did try the vinegar/water approach before that, and it did take up a little of the gunk. But two rounds with the Dawn took off almost all of it. And I think if I did it again, it would probably come completely clean. But a well-used pan that looks like this is like new in my book!

Linda, not only does the PowerDissolver do an amazing job, but FWIW, Everbake baking spray from King Arthur Flour definitely doesn't create the sticky build-up. I've been using it for a couple of years and have never had the issue since then. Plus the spray on it is stronger than the typical baking spray from the grocery story. And I actually think it's a better value than those plus it's a great way to get up to the KAF free shipping minimum!

I too have problems finding Dawn Power Dissolver, and like you, the only place I can ever find it is Walmart. And even they don't always have it, so I tend to buy two bottles so I never run out.

Amazon has it, albeit with a shipping charge. Still sometimes it is worth it just to have it.

For those of you who have trouble finding the Dawn PD, soap.com has a deal with free shipping for just $25 for your first order. You could get 6 Dawn PDs, for just $27.15 (or you would buy more, if you really wanted to stock up!).

So glad it worked! And drat, probably should have mentioned that the only place I can find it is at Walmart, and in the US only, they seem to have stopped carrying it here in Canada, or at least as far as I can tell. So glad it worked. And good to know how the other ones worked too.
