Josh, I agree the under cabinet lights are huge, they are more than 15 years old. Luckily there weren't any under the corner cabinet, so I was able to remove the facing board to accommodate the 7 qt. Kitchen Aid. Steve looked into replacing them with light strips, but did not find anything that would work well for use without problems. The current lights are controlled by regular light switches. I'll have him check the ones Paul recommended, in case he has not seen those. |

So funny, Linda, how one [wo]man's trash (so to speak) can be another can be another [wo]man's treasure. I LOVE my halogen under-cabinet lights precisely because of the heat. I put rolls/bread under them to rise, and the temp is perfect. Likewise for frozen foods, like spinach, when I need to thaw them quickly. (All on top of my toaster oven, so they're about 6 inches from the heat). I had to replace about half of the bulbs recently that had burned out and was so relieved I could still get them! Emilie |

Paul, thanks from me as well on the tape lighting from Lee Valley. The rope lighting we put in our oldest's room (15 years ago - eep) just burned out (literally) and that system looks like an excellent replacement. |

All: Those of you who live near an Ikea may be interested to know that Ikea has gone for LED lighting in a big way. They now have several different lines of strip and bar lighting. While it's not professional quality like the Lee Valley stuff, it's about 1/5 the price. And if you just need a few accent lights, it's all you need.
