I did end up throwing them out, and I got some at a kitchen supply store that are ivory colored terry cloth, not too thick, but huge. And no fru-fru's to fall off in the wash. Whew. Dang, I forgot to make that potholder broth first.

Personally, I like ove-gloves. I like that I can get a good grip on a pan. My kitchen is tiny so I never have to carry anything long distances. I throw them in the wash when they get really grungy.

I've been using side towels for the last couple of decades...with fresh ones daily. I did order a couple of silicone pot holders recently that haven't arrived yet. I'm looking forward to giving them a try. I'm hoping they clean up easily in the sink and can pull double duty as a makeshift trivet for short periods.

Jim,
Welcome to the Board! I'm one of the admins, PM me if you need something.
I have a silicone potholder. It works pretty well, except it has the same defect of all silicone ... get it greasy at all and it's pretty much frictionless. It does make a good trivet, though.

I wash mine every couple months too. They do get gunky from time to time. It's hard to find ones I like. I don't like the mitts either for the same reason Fuzzy stated. I do have some silicone finger mitts that I like.

You will all be happy to know that I washed my Potholders tonight. I do wash them, but it's been awhile, so thanks for reminding me.

I got an ove glove in my stocking. So much better than coal!

Wino was close. I put mine in the soak cycle, and when it looks as though everything has floated off, I give them a quick cycle, and dry them on the coal stove. Any that are ripped or more likely, burned, get tossed.
