Amy,

I'd hold onto the credit and wait to see if you want to get a second knife to complient that Shun.

Amy, I love their tablecloths, especially the Provence and Marseille. Nice big napkins, too. If you can hang them on the line, they hardly need ironing. Great for patio, porch and picnics

Fitzie,

Tell me about linen tablecloths that don't need ironing. Sounds too good to be true.

I'd appreciate your thoughts,

Tim, the tablecloths I referred to are cotten and probably made in India. They line-dry very nicely, especially on windy days.

Linen is another story and (imho) needs ironing to look good. However, in my dotage I'm not as picky as I once was and now forego starching the napkins and simply steam iron them. We use them daily and I think they get better looking with age.

Linen tablecloths do need starching & ironing to look their Sunday best. Don't use them as often as I used to. With the grandsons living with us, we're into placemats big time.

My knife just arrived. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until I get back from Chicago to try it out. It looks beautiful though, and the edge feels amazing.

I'm leaning towards one of these two knives with the rest of my credit. (I really don't need anything else.)

Thoughts?

Shun Kaji 7" Single hollow Santoku

Shun Kaji 7 1/2" Double Hollow Santoku

Amy,

The double-hollow looks gimmicky.

From the description, the 7.5 sounds like a real workhorse; do you need this at home? If so, I would buy it. Have you handled either one?

I held both of them. Can you see an advantage to the double hollows? (Which are only on one side of the knife I should add.)
