My little chopper is perfect for the curry pastes. At least the amounts I make (the Dave in my mind makes GALLONS).

Not quite, Mary; I just make recipes of under a pint, but this is how I stupidly burned out my KA - I made 3 recipes in a row. I have to make 3 recipes now, as I am all out of everything except green, but I obviously won't be doing that again.

So SLT it seems, carries the Bamix Professional on its website only. Still debating about when to buy it. Most of the Bamix' are two speed. I didn't think I needed the super duper Bamix extra Pro something or other for 4-500 bucks. I think that when I get more serious about tempering chocolate and emulsifying stuff, I'll get one. I use my food processor for most fine chopping tasks so far and haven't yet needed to puree soup (though I could use my blender in a pinch). Still don't have a vita mix yet either. Ah, things to strive for...
