Wow. Al just got one for Christmas. We are set for another round of baking tonight. She used it once after she got, eyes shining--til she ate the s'mores--mouth slows--eyes swivel. I looked at her with arched brow and she says "why doesn't this taste very good"; she got the spiel. I'm going to venture a guess that round two will convince her. |

Thank you Jes for that important breaking news!!! I really hate incandescent bulbs. Better start stocking up on the regular kind. ![]() (OK Pete, I really mean CF bulbs. You reminded me of engineer husband just now....I tell him don't listen to what I say, listen to what I mean) |

I can never figure out why there is so much hate for the fluorescents. The ones you can put in your regular lamps and light fixtures at home are worlds better than the ones they use to torture you with in department store dressing rooms. |

JB, Want a list? ( CF = "compact flourescent" )
As a Green, I'm actually pretty bitter about the CF law here in California. It's pretty transparently designed to benefit two companies who helped elect our previous governor, and not to conserve energy or help the environment. A real environmental law would have required specific efficiencies, not specific light bulb types. |

What do you need more than 150 watts for? 'Tis true, they must go in the Hazardous Waste box with the old batteries and whatever bits croaked in one of the computers lately. I've only got one lamp a CF doesn't fit into, and the round tube does fit - plus it's a 3-way. I keep it over 55 in my house, and even in the freezing weather, the porch light comes on, even though it takes it awhile to get up to max brightness. Yeah well, there is the Easy Bake oven conundrum. I don't know what the CA law is, the new Fed law (if I remember correctly) just says that a few, commonly used incandescents will no longer be available. You can chuck any alternative you want in your sockets. |

JB, We live in a Victorian apartment which was converted to electricity in 1935, and not really upgraded since. CFs are a big problem for us, even if they aren't for you. |

But Tim, A 142 degree hamburger would be too well done for my taste. 130 degrees is much more like it. Amy |
