Living at almost 10K feet, a pressure cooker is practically a requirement, especially if you like beans, which I do.
Last night while making black beans the pressure cooker which Sunny gave me (thanks again Sunny) died. Andy took it apart this morning and figured out where it went dead, but isn't sure he can fix it.
So, I need a new pressure cooker. I want an electric one, and hope you guys have some recommendations. (The one I had was a Faberware, so I'm not anxious to buy that brand again.)

Funny, my post vanished. What I said was I have 2 Kuhn Rikons and I gave my mom a Fagor last year. We are both very happy but they are not electric. What is the advantage of the electric? I have never seen one here.

Mary,
The electric models are dead simple...set them and walk away. (I'm into dead simple these days...I've got too much going on.) Also, they are ideal for holding food as they have a "warm" setting which is really nice.
If I ever get into canning (and I might), then I'll buy a large stovetop model, but until then, I like the electric version.

I have had a Kuhn Rikon for a couple of years. Based on my experience with it, I would not hesitate to get their electric if in the market for one. Then again, if it truly does not need constant watching, I may hav ejust talked myself into one! Janet

I am out of the market for a pressure cooker. Andy was able to fix mine! It had a bad thermal cutoff, and Andy simply cut it out. Yes, it's a safety feature, but not absolutely required.
Yeah!

Nothing beats having a handy guy around the house. Not that I married Geekboy solely for the free tech support... ; )
