All,

We're getting rid of our Cuisinart, which has served us well since we got it as a wedding present. It's a 14-cup FP, with all the disks and stuff.

The reason we're getting rid of is is that a food processor is sort of a spork. That is, it does 7 different things, but none of them well. We've replaced it with special-purpose tools, all of which do their jobs better than the FP:

  • Preethi food grinder for pureeing
  • mini-FP for chopping nuts
  • rotary slicer/grater attachment to KithchenAid
  • mandoline
  • immersion blender

Between the above, the FP hasn't been used in 3 months.

If somone on the board wants it, I'd be happy to work out some kind of interesting trade. Make me an offer!

Otherwise it'll go up on Craigslist.

Son is getting married; what do you want for it? I don't know how much it would be worth.....

ETA: There is a new one on ebay for $269 and a used one with a bid of $33 so far....

Josh,

I'm a slicing snob (call it my culinary training), so never even considered the KA rotary slicer/grater attachment. Do you really like it? Or, is it a good fast prep thing and you live with the results?

KSS,

Would you do $50, plus shipping? Original box is gone, but I have all the parts, and it's in very good shape.

Amy,

I pretty much use the rotary grater exclusively for potato pancakes. Grating four whole potatoes on a box grater is more effort than I usually want to go to on a sunday morning. Six, if we have guests. Otherwise? Box grater.

Theoretically I might use the slicer if I ever get around to making pommes anna, or something else where I need to slice a lot of potatoes very fast.
