How many people would be interested in a mold designed just for toffee? How would you want it to work? How big would you want the squares? How big volume wise? ie. big enough to hold one batch. I work in a tool and die shop and we could build a mold and we have Food Grade Silicone Rubber that we use all the time for the food service industry. If enough people were interested, we might be able to make them at a reasonable price. Either way, I would still be interested in peoples input for a design.

I would like to look at getting at least four molds large enough to hold one three pound batch, I would want it shallow so that when the nuts were added it would be flush at the top. I would not want a wide space between the appox. 1" x 1" squares. Each side of the single divider would have toffee against it. ( not like a plastic ice tray...think old fashioned metal aluminum ice trays) This would add rigidity when filled. PM me if you would like to discuus futher.

Yeah, I was just thinking about it and each individual piece should have minimal or no taper up-and-down or it would look like each piece had chocolate and nuts on the "wrong" side. Maybe you could consider enrobing the toffee pieces instead of just chocolate on the top - make it more like a heath bar...

For those of you who might be interested in making individual pieces of toffee in a mold and then enrobing them in chocolate, I am thinking this mold would work.

Not a bad price for a silicone rubber mold.

Very interesting. Personally I like the odd shapes of the toffee, I like the homemade look. However I can see how a perfect piece of toffee would look wonderfull all wrapped up as a gift. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with Todd.
