Post subject:  Frigidaire 30" Free Standing Gar Range

We need a new gas range for our upstate house (current Kenmore is 15+ yrs old - interior glass cracked and it can't be repaired - we tried, and so did Sears) and went shopping at the usual suspects this weekend (Sears, Lowes, Home Depot) plus a local Appliance store. We have a propane hook-up and the big box stores claim they can't do hook-ups (not licensed). Sears can but they charge extra and the one stove in our price range was pretty flimsy. I'm thinking about this one:

Frigidaire 30-inch 5.0 cu ft Gas Range with Self Cleaning Oven

I can get this one from the local guy and all hook-ups plus removal are included in the price.

So, my question to you all is, does anyone have any experience with Frigidaire Gas Ranges? All reviews I've read are at least 4 out of 5 but I'm hesitant to rely just on consumer reviews. Would appreciate any feedback any of you might have. I also looked at a Frigidaire 5 burner (Lowes) but don't know that my needs at our weekend house warrant the extra $$$, although it does look mighty professional :)

Thanks in advance for your help and input, as always.

I have a Whirpool, bought about two years ago, but I understand that it's probably the same as Frigidaire. I think Laurie has the same one, but she can't get on here because of a log in issue. I have a five burner, self cleaning range with convection (Noble Prize winner, there) and an oven that you can program to come on and go off.

According to Consumer Reports, and the Sutherland King, you are ALWAYS better off with the local dealer. We have always gotten a better deal from the local guy. And they also did the propane hook up (nearly killed DH) but our warranty wouldn't have worked had he meddled.

Let us know what you get/decide.

My last dual fuel range was a Kenmore made by Frigidaire. I had no complaints. After 3 years we had no problems with it at all. I'd still have it, but we moved.

I have the Whirlpool Gold range. It is also LP gas. Love it!

Thanks to Pete, I'm back on!

Made a decision today! Bought this one at Lowes and I'm thrilled. Delivery next Friday.

K- I think you just need to wait longer for the page to load. I got a generic lowes page immediately followed by the range. Or search LGGF3042KF when you are at the site.

Nancy, is the 5th burner round or oval? My GE has the oval burner and optional griddle grate, which is handy if making 2-3 grilled cheese or extra pancakes.

Installation same day? How are you going to break it in?

The fifth is round, 9500 BTU's. I changed the delivery date to 10/18 and installation of the propane will be the next day, Friday. Haven't thought what to cook or roast first but I'll keep you posted!

Congrat, Nance, finally got it to come up. Looks a lot like mine a little more hi stepin' though. Two years is a big technogap! Hope you love it and enjoy it. Word to the wise, dont' let them leave until they've calibrated the burners and oven. And even though it's self cleaning, get a silicone thing for the oven floor. Saves the self cleaning oven.
