Deb,
I've looked at that too, but it seems likely to me to suffer from Sporkism: being neither a particularly good measuring cup, nor a particularly good scale. Consider, for example, that it's not dishwasher-safe, and that you can't weigh several different cups and bowls on it; you have to wash it out for each ingredient you want to weigh.
If you do get it, though, tell us how it works out.

Plus setting a measuring cup on a scale works very very well if the scale is digital (the whole easy tare thing).

I suspect you're right. Like I said I'm a (sucker for) gadgets gal. The little battery operated stirrer thingy on top of the saucepan was the worst. Deb

I was looking at the electronic measuring cup and for general purpose, I agree that it creates more problems than it solves. But for a variable repetitive batch job, it might just find a niche. We have been doing bacon quite a bit and the family prefers sweeter bacon for the most part. Each chunk of pork belly has its own unique weight. So we have to adjust the curing mix by weight to each piece. While the sweetener, honey, is not so demanding in terms of very specific amounts, we do adjust roughly for that too.
Also, if we do a wet cure (aka brine) it might work pretty well there too. Not that it has me reaching for my wallet. I'm much more intrigued by the discussion of digital kitchen scales. I need 2 and want 3. A 5 pounder that does grams to 1 decimal place and 200 or 500 gram that does them to 2 decimal places. And an 11 pounder down the road with similar specs to the 5 pounder. I'm pretty sure the digital measuring cup won't much of that territory.

Steve,
If you want a scale which does 0.1 gram measurements, then you're going to have to get a scientific scale. I have one for glaze ingredients, and it set me back $150.
