I rarely use mine, but it is convenient when making a lot of something thinly sliced or julienned. Not really worth setting up and cleaning for a dinner for two, though there are smaller, one part ones, too. |

Yes! I never have wine without it!! Truly, they are wonderful. I store mine atop the fridge at the back as it is large and safely out of the way but readily available. Love it when I need it! |

Just adding to say, I got a fancy French expensive one. I think a smaller one would be just fine. I have not even used the fancier cuts. Mary |

Every kitchen should have one. I have the inexpensive Beniriner which I highly recommend. I've had it for years and haven't changed the blade yet. Use it a couple times a month for slicing potatoes. Much easier than getting out the cuisinart and then cleaning it. fitzie |

I have a Benriner, which is the inexpensive Japanese mandolin. Does the trick when needed. Admittedly I don't use it much either but it's good to have. http://www.amazon.com/Benriner-BN1-Japa ... B0000VZ57C Nance |

Like others, I don't use it a ton, but it's indispensable when I need it. I have a Bron, and love it. But it's expensive, so if you're unsure, go the inexpensive route with Benriner. And, buy a kevlar glove. Amy |

I have a plastic one and I don't like it. For starters, sans Kevlar glove I gave myself a really nice scar at the base of my thumb. But the real problem I have with it is that the plastic deflects too much to get the slices consistent. If you get one, get a good one. I plan to upgrade one fine day, after I get the other kitchen goodies higher on my list. |

I forgot about the kevlar glove I use with it, but I see others have the same safety in mind! |
