My kitchen scales started to go on me lately - I got them in the late 80's, so they didn't owe me anything! LOL They still work, but shut off annoyingly fast, about 10 sec. or so, instead of in 5 min., like they used to. So I started looking around, and found the perfect thing for me - Baker's Math Kitchen Scale, which makes it incredibly easy to work with those percentages found in many bread books. It also has a 17.6 lb/8kg capacity, which is far more than my old one. I have a smaller one in the cupboard I took out for higher amounts, like mixing sausage, so now I don't even need that one. I love this thing for the percentages - makes it so easy to multiply or divide a recipe when you have the percentages. Plus, it is a good, everyday scale, for the usual things.

Thanks for the review. It does look great and a good price. I have an old Salton 1400 Nutrition scale. which I love, but will make a note of this when that one dies.

I'm still very pleased with the scale, Todd, and have had no problems with it at all. I haven't gotten around to converting too many recipes to percentages, but that is a great feature, especially when using certain bread books.

I ordered this scale. The really scary part is I haven't ordered from Amazon in probably 15 years yet when I went to place my order, they had my current Credit Card number.

Do you order from Zappos? They are now part of Amazon.

Looks like a nice scale, however, it seems a bit bulky for my needs. I store mine on its side on a shelf in the pantry; it's the slim style the seems to have been discontinued - it's several years old. Mine has a removable platform so it can easily be cleaned I took a sandwich bag (not the Ziploc type but that could work as well) and slit the side of it and pulled it over the platform. Now I don't have to wash it after every use.

I have the Oxo Good Grips Kitchen Scale with Pull Out Display. While I love the scale, I can't find anything online about calibrating it. It does have two screws under the removable weighing plate.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
