Hi,

While the Thermopen is the obvious choice, I am saddled with a gift certificate to Williams-Sonoma. They carry the Maverick Precision Pro Commercial Thermometer with the same 3 second read time and similar performance. But then there are terrible reviews.

They have an excellent return policy. If you don't like it, take it back.

Oh gift certificates can be a problem at WS. They have some interesting consumables and a nice selection of wine glasses and linens. And there's always regifting....

I do like WS high heat silicone spatulas for making Marilyn’s toffee.

Frank reminds me of my W-S wish list of products they do not carry.... It includes a dozen cooking tools I do not need, but desire! That is all the result of a generous friends yearly gift certificate.

Tim

ps: New to my list is OXO's new four-piece Mini Measuring Beaker Set, perfect for recipe development.
