Going to Sioux Falls mid-month for a new left hip and want to stock up on necessities
Would love to purchase some high quality 'cookie sheets' suitable for a standard gas oven.

I have these and quite like them. : http://www.cuisinart.com/products/bakew ... -17bs.html They were on clearance at costco a few years ago at Christmas so I picked up 3 sets of 3 foo $13/each set. I also really like the dark finsih President's Choice line, especially when it's on sale. |

I have the Vollrath ones that CI recommended years ago. They're pricier (and slightly heavier) than most others but are true kitchen workhorses. I'd never willingly switch to another brand. Emilie |

I like the rimmed half-sheet pans from Sam's Club. Very affordable and durable. |

If a “cookie sheet” is really a half sheet pan or rimmed baking sheet, the “best” and most “HIGHLY RECOMMENDED” will be manufactured of 13 gauge aluminium and may or may not have the same name as one of those stone presidents from South Dakota. It will be very hard to find and when you finally acquire one it will be a disappointment ‘cause it will still warp. Since “second best” products in this category pretty much perform the same, we bakers have a tendency to recommend the ones we own. I use aluminized steel sheet pans from Chicago Metallic and a couple of Aluminum pans purchased from Sam’s Club in a 2-pack for very little money. When it comes to baking performance, the only care needed is to use matched pairs for cookie baking lest the timing get screwed up a bit. A critical eye may object to the way the edge is rolled on some pans and how likely it it to harbor dirt, burned on grease, and food pathogens. I count on the oven heat to kill the pathogens and make sure that at least two of my pans are presentable for guests to see. |

Wishing you luck with your surgery and a speedy recovery! I 2nd the Lincoln Wear Ever---LOVE mine AND no warping. In 2008, I bought 2 Chicago Metallic pans from WS (CI recommendation ?)---both warped so promptly returned. Found info online about their warping then recommendation of the Lincoln Wear Ever along with picture of a specific number embossed in a circle on back of the pans. Not @ home at the moment or I would post the number. Interesting... back then Ina Garten actually used Chicago Metallic with no warping at all. She must have had hers for a while (better made). I had emailed her to ask what brand she used (since mine had warped), her assistant answered that hers were no problem and had been purchased at WS. |
