Whirlpool introduces a new finish.

Fad or wave of what's to come?

FWIW, I would love to have colorful appliances like this: Bertazzoni range. I have heard the performance does not live up to the beauty, however.

Okay, is that fridge winking and smiling/smirking at me, or what?

Sorry, I see faces in so many things.

You know stainless can't last...look what happened to avocado. ;)

I would hate to have to keep that clean, but it is beautiful.

If you want colorful appliances, you should check out BlueStar ranges.

Mine is grey...but that works in my kitchen.

Stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops have been a safe choice in new construction and remodels for a very long time. I think it will take more than an updated white from Whirlpool to change that very soon.

Since white has never lost its way in the market, a new white can still be very successful on Sears sales floor.

In my high-end clients' homes, I find there is a trend towards color...white being a color. I agree stainless will remain a safe choice, but I'm certainly seeing other trends out there.

I love our white kitchen. It doesn't get much sunlight so anything else would make it feel like a dungeon. However, there's a red refrigerator in the window of a local appliance store and every time I drive by I can hear it calling my name.

I too have an white kitchen, white tile with gray grout, white cabinets with obsidian like knobs and white appliances, the only way to deal with our extremely alkaline well water. When our white microwave went out, we could get the SS model quicker so we got it. It looks great, but it is harder to keep clean than anything else. I would not do it again.

My accent colors is red (red KA mixer, etc.) so I a red refrigerator would be appealing. However, our home was custom built by a friend who got transferred just after it got started, so we ended up with her choice of red sinks and toilet seat in the main bath. The sinks were a pita to keep nice with our water (they are white now). So I've learned the hard way to keep expensive stuff white and use color in walls and accessories.
