My All-Clad bottoms are defying my rub-a-dub scrubbing :lol: Primarily I use Barkeeper's Friend to keep these sparkling clean. However, due to rehabs and laziness, I have fallen behind and months of neglect are repaying me in unkindness :evil:

Your suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated :D

No blowtorches, please... :oops:

... why does it matter?

I don't know that I've ever cleaned the bottom of a pot unless I burned something on it.

That said, AC is pretty hard steel, you can use steel wool on it without scratching it.

Maybe a disk sander? :o :lol:

I rarely have to clean stuff like that from my pans, though when I do, Barkeeper's friend is usually what I use. There are some powerful chemical options you could try, like plain old oven cleaner - if that doesn't remove it, it's one of those things where the metal has discolored.

As a warning, do NOT use Naval Jelly. I investigated this for other cookware, and knifemakers warned me that Naval Jelly can leave microscopic pits in steel, which will then cause the steel to get dirtier/more corroded afterwards. NJ is designed for use when you're planning to paint or treat the steel afterwards.

If it bothered me, I’d do a paste of barkeepers friend and let it sit a few minutes before applying elbow grease. Multiple scrubs should do the trick. That or the Dawn dissolve spray if you can still find it (I haven’t been able to in years).

When I first got this pot a year ago, I took meticulous care to keep in 'bright shiny new' looking. But I slacked off for the usual reasons. Most of my pots are quite normal looking but I couldn't afford All-Clad for many years and when this arrived it GLEAMED! Likewise was the effect of a new, large roaster by All-Clad, that I have come to love :!:

I have been in the kitchens of 3 Michelin chefs and all of the cookware gleams - it is very impressive - but they also have LOTS of eager help. ;)

Anyway, to get to the point so Fuzzy doesn't fall asleep, I was just curious if I could bring back the shine that I had let go.

The photo shows the effects of Comet, with 5 minutes of sitting paste and 5 minutes of vigorous scrubbing, - about 95% improvement.

Put your sunglasses on :!: :roll:

BTW, Barkeepers Friend had no effect... :(
