Tiffany, This topic made me think of my wife's recent mishap with the kitchen sink sprayer.

Tiff,
I like both the tapas approach and the high tea approach. I used to do high tea at the Biltmore, and it was fun. You can then do a combination of sweet and savory. When I was at the Biltmore I obviously did the sweet side of it (working in the pastry kitchen). We did a variety of things...chocolate dipped strawberries, mini scones, tea cookies, swans (you don't want to go there, but cream puffs would be a good choice in that same vein), etc. I'll look at my notes tonight and see if anything else pops to mind.

I really, really, really like the high tea idea. Any excuse to make smoked salmon sandwiches

Tiffany,
Well, the head of the kitchen sprayer came off when she turned on the sink for washing dishes. The hose which was left aimed directly at her face.
Afternoon baptism!
Oh, and if you do to the "high tea" idea, it's not worth the time to make your own flavored cream cheese. Take it from me.

I've been remiss in posting my thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up doing an afternoon tea and it was very well-received. Plus, the baptism itself was very beautiful; all in all, a very special day
