Hi guys,
Lynn here. Right now we are digging out of 34 inches of snow in 34 hours. Other than that I am home a lot, puttering in the kitchen, spending too much time online, and fawning over my yellow lab and husband (in that order) :D

Glad to get updated on everyone! It's great to have all the fun stuff to play with here.

Lynn

Well...Melinda & I have been pursuing adoption, we have made one trip to Russia for a week in Nov. visited two simply beautiful sisters ages 5 & 6. We are just waiting for word from the Russian Gov. that a court date is set and we can come get our daughters.

Guess I am going to have to overcome my dislike of beets...

PM me & I will tell ya more.

Frank :D

Hi everyone!

Thanks for starting this, Fuzzy. This format looks good, and hopefully most of our old crew will be here eventually. Thanks for telling me about it, Kathy!

Hello! Great board and thanks for the link. I was on CI's board for years with thousands of posts. Haven't been there in a long time. I'm cooking a lot these days. 10# of peanuts are on tomorrow's agenda for lots of tins of peanut brittle. Marilyn's toffee for only real special people is on the agenda for Monday. Beef jerkey is marinating now but practically makes itself. The new thing with me is baking. It's still a bit stressful, but I'm having more success with it now and it's starting to be a lot of fun. Cookies are on the agenda just about weekly, and I made a fabulous cake for Thanksgiving. Bread is still a bit iffy, but I have yeast rolls pretty much down pat.

Latest book find is Bull Cook and Authentic Historical Recipes and Practices by George Leonard Herter. Now, that was one opinionated man! LOL. It's one of the best cooking-oriented books I've ever read. It's not a cookbook. The man's family had a sporting catalog, and he sold his books (including, "How to go on a Safari for $790" -- published in the 60s) via his catalog, and they're a rare and great find. If you ever stumble upon one, pick it up. I read the entire thing in a day and am still skimming through it for fun.

It's good to see everyone and the board looks fantastic. Great job, Fuzzy!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Rhonda

Rhonda,

Where are you living now? Did you move back to NOLA, or are you still in Baton Rouge?

Hi -- Holly here (aka hghaynes on CI). I'm still doing my heritage recipe thing and trying to find lost old recipes for people. This is the busy season 'cause everyone is wanting to find that "old XXX recipe" that great-aunt whose-it use to make. I have boxes and boxes of old recipes cards that people give me -- am hoping to get DH to catalog them for me. And my collection of old recipe books continues to grow...I'm going to have to donate my collection of gardening books to the library to make room. I've gotten picky about cookbooks -- it's got to be from before 1950 and the earlier the better.

Daisey, the psycho Cocker Spaniel is still psycho -- chasing snow flakes today. We didn't go overseas this year for the holidays -- the world seems just too unsettled to leave home. Now with temps in the teens we are wondering why we are somewhere warm! I rediscovered my loom this year and have been weaving -- trying to work through my huge stash of yarn. I will never work through it knitting!

I just drifted away from the CI board -- it just seemed more like work than fun. I'm glad that Easy Bake let me know about the new board -- thanks Fuzzy, I know it's a lot of work for you.

It's great hearing what everyone has been doing! Happy Holidays to all!

Winowino here from the currently frozen plains of Saskatchewan. Ditto on the kudos Fuzzy Chef and many thanks to Pepperhead for pointing me here although I'm a bit worried that Da Bull Man didn't - makes me think he's hiding after calling me a wimp!! I started with CI in 2000 and quit the paper version a year ago for all of the usual reasons. Now I'm looking at the web site and BB in my rear view mirror - they're not gone yet but the horizon's gaining on 'em. I'm not a volumnious poster, but I am a voracious reader and have gone through all of the posts on CI and read all of the paper issues. Cooking is a serious hobby and 99% of what we eat is homemade (by which I mean that we rarely eat in restaurants). Going out just isn't good enough anymore and, as my moniker indicates, we have an affinity for wine. We have a great cellar. If we do dine out it is for an exceptional experience - damn the cost. But that is fading too as we have done a lot of it and can't eat as much anymore. Really do have to get back to the snow (this was my warm-up) but it is REALLY GREAT to find you all again. Bill Oehler (previously Wino), Regina, Canada

Hi, Holly.

Just wanted to say I followed your blog link over to the felted bag patterns page. At first I thought maybe your handle was a spoonerism...
