"I don’t speak to them that often but as I understand protocol, when you are speaking to them, you can still say Mr President. I usually go with my standby, “Sir.”"Their job is not to be "engaging" but invisible, they do not chat or strike up conversations with them...kind of a speak when spoken to environment.
