Okay, I gotta admit I never saw that one coming

Given that, isn't there someway you can sneak one into the Pete's Kathy/ Kathy's Pete ICU saga?????

So, inquiring minds want to know....how did you resolve the situation and did you finish boot camp?

I did not finish the class. This is an e-mail I sent to Chef right before I left.

Chef,
Would you please read this to everyone so they understand a little more of why I didn't finish Boot Camp. You will probably want to send Team 2 to the kitchen and just read this to the other three teams.


My Fellow Bootcampers,
It was great working with you for the three days that I was there. As I told you on Monday, coming to the CIA was a dream of mine for 31 years. What was supposed to be one of the highlights of my life has turned out to be one of the saddest events of my life. I'm sure many of you have probably figured out why I couldn't continue. Believe me I tried, I really did, but certain events on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon after lecture made it impossible for me to continue. I am a patient man, but I didn't come here to have my patience tried. I came here to cook and have fun and my team made that nearly impossible.
Good Luck with your meals today! I know they are going to be excellent and I'm sorry that I am going to miss them.

FYI, all of your fellow boot campers (except those three) miss you. This was obvious (and stated) last night while dining at Escoffier. I missed you as well! May our paths cross again soon....

This was my final e-mail to Chef written after I got home on Friday.

Chef,
Thank you for honoring my request! Your comment does not surprise
me about the three. Sometimes a player has to sit one out for the
team and me sitting out was the best option for the good of the class.
I don't know if I could have held my emotions in check any longer and
me losing my temper in class would not have been good. Thank you
again for your offer of letting me observe. It was very kind of you,
but I really needed to get a good nights rest for my trip home.

On my way home, I did a lot of thinking and I know I did the right thing. I plan on going back and doing it again.

Glad you made it home, sorry things went as they did. Keep the good memories of the courses and toss the bad ones. That way some good will come out of it.
