Has anyone tried these? How does the Dark Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream compare to the same flavor in the Dove Ice Cream Bars? http://www.delish.com/food/recalls-revi ... cream-bars

I have never had Dove bars and can not be certain that American Magnums are made to the same recipe as Swiss ones but I love them. The chocolate coating is of excellent quality and perhaps a bit thicker than other bars. The ice cream is very creamy. We get a pretty good variety here including little bit size ones. I like the one that is vanilla ice cream coated with caramel and coated in white chocolate.

My first intro to a Magnum Bar was in a small town in China! I had never heard of it, but my friends went crazy when they saw them. I thought they were great then, but I don't think the chocolate compares to the Dove chocolate. Can't comment on the vanilla ice cream, I've only had chocolate and strawberry, which were very good.

I think the Dove ones win by a little. However, everyone should RUN out and get the Ciao Bella Key Lime ice cream bars!! My goodness. It tastes homemade, the quality is so good. Super creamy ice cream sandwiched between slightly salty graham crackers...

These were just advertised at our Meijer's store a week ago. I'll have to try them. I am a huge fan of the Dove Bar. L

Well, I finally tried the Magnum Bars - Dark Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream, and I must say, I was underwhelmed. The Dove Bars win out on all counts - I find their dark chocolate to be much better in both taste and texture, with its nice snap and perfect thickness. The Magnum Bars have absolutely no snap to them, and their chocolate coating is thinner. Also, tastewise, I find the bittersweet chocolate against the vanilla ice cream to be better balanced in the Dove Bars than the Magnum Bars. Overall, the Dove Bars are more refreshing, and definitely more delicious.
