I like to walk in, point to something I've never had before and try it. Unless it's made from glutinous rice starch, which I have trouble chewing, it won't kill me even if I don't actually like it. And most times I'm pleasantly surprised.

Sesame balls by far my favorite. Chinese birthday cake a close second (not mentioned in the article though.) Had a horrible case of food poisoning years ago from a random Chinese bakery choice. Once bitten, twice shy....

I loved the write ups, and while the photos are very well styled, I would have gotten a lot more use out of a photo of the top and side of each, so I would possibly identify them at the bakery in the future. :/

If I avoided every type of restaurant I've had food poisoning at, I'd never go out at all.
