We went just last night. I don't have a lot of positive things to say about the greater Detroit area, but the grocery shopping is excellent. And the water is really safe. Our goal is to move back to the Kalamazoo area, but I have a feeling we'll be visiting the in-laws often, and bringing a cooler when we do.
