So my cousin invites me to a "house party" featuring....Velveeta. :shock:

Velveeta (Kraft) is clever - "host" parties where all you do is provide "cheesy" invitation/RSVP software, and you can make the consumers of your products do your marketing for you too! Brilliant!

While I am not hatin' on Velveeta, I'm not sure I want to drive 2 hours to eat it. I might go just for the company, but if I end up eating Velveeta please don't judge me!

OMG!!! And right there in "cheese country"!!!

Why that would be like serving chili with beans in it in Texas...unthinkable!! :D

Clearly this person is not a native to the area...you need to have your representative revisit your immigration laws.

If all else fails, there is always the tar and feathers route. 8-) :evil:

It is always proper to bring a small gift for the hostess. I'd suggest Cheese Whiz*!

I grew up on Velveeta and have fond memories of the many grilled cheese sandwiches that greeted me when I walked home for school at lunchtime, a hot lunch so to speak. As an adult, I remember being shocked after reading the ingredients and realizing it wasn't cheese but rather "cheese product."

From Wikipedia:
Velveeta is the brand name of a popular processed cheese product having a taste that is identified as a type of American cheese with a texture that is softer and smoother. It was first made in 1918 by Swiss immigrant Emil Frey of the Monroe Cheese Company in Monroe, New York. In 1923, The Velveeta Cheese Company was incorporated as a separate company, and was sold to Kraft Foods in 1927. The product was advertised for its nutrition.[1] According to Kraft's website, in the 1930s, Velveeta became the first cheese product to gain the American Medical Association's seal of approval.[2] It was reformulated in 1953 as a cheese spread.[2] Velveeta is labeled in the United States as a "Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product" (see processed cheese). The name 'Velveeta' is intended to connote a velvety smooth edible product. Smoothness and meltability are promoted as its iconic properties that occur from reincorporating the whey with the curd. The elementary school that I attended didn't offer traditional pizza for hot lunch. We got pizza burgers. The ingredients are 1 lb Ground Beef-Browned, 1 lb. Ground Bologna, 1 lb. Ground Processed Cheese, 1 10 oz can of Pizza Sauce and 1 Tbsp of Oregano. Mix all the ingredients together and spread onto Hamburger bun halves and bake. Delicious. This was a great way to use the commodity processed cheese, besides Mac and Cheese and Grilled Cheese.
