Woo Hoo! All the eating and drinking is done for me tonight. It's time to go to church and when I get home, I have a few dishes to wash. All the leftovers are put away.
Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays,
Lib and I are in NYC with 12 to 18"s of snow. We are at my Son's apartment with a bottle of 1970 Chateau Mouton Rothschild. It has a lovely picture by Marc Chagall. We'd better not.
This morning we went to Bergdorf Goodman and saw a knit cap just like the one I bought at the Gap for $5. It was marked down from the $220 original price....
We're off to see Matt. Tomorrow, we'll huddle inside while the blizzard blows.

Tim (and Lib) Probably shouldn't drink the Rothschild, but hopefully your son has laid down something perfect for a snowy night in NYC. I always loved walking on Fifth Ave in the snow...the flakes sparkled just like Tiffany's windows. It is dry and sunny here in Denver and the mountains have great snow for skiing. It is, as it should be....plenty of snow to play on, but I don't have to shovel or scrape any of it. Enjoy your visit and you probably should get the $225 cap...when will you ever find another bargain like that?
All: Now that part #1 of the "holiday" is over....on to New Year's Eve!!!!

Ilene,
No fancy cooking for us NYE. We have a bunch of guests over for after-dinner snacks and party, so we generally eat leftovers quickly so that we can clean up and be ready for them. It's a nice evening, but not about the food.
However, this week I hope to try out some basque recipes from the Hirogoyen cookbook, which I borrowed from the Library. And on New Year's Day, of course, it's blackeyed peas ...

Fuzzy, I'd love to know what some of the Basque recipes are. I'm from Bakersfield, which has a huge Basque population, and the food is something I really miss. http://www.apejet.org/sites/noriega_hotel/http://www.woolgrowers.net/The Pyrenees Cafe doesn't have a menu, but I occasionally have "Basque lunch:" Sliced sourdough bread (yes, we get it here in the east, now) covered with soft butter, and bleu cheese, dipped in salsa, green onions and a glass of wine. Also, a clam chowder that is spicy.
